Overview

Keywords are crucial in SEO (Search Engine Optimization). There are three types of keywords you need to know: Short-Tail Keywords, LSI Keywords (Latent Semantic Indexing), and Long-Tail Keywords. Many pieces of content fail due to incorrect keyword application. These mistakes include keyword overuse (spam), ambiguous titles, and keywords forced to fit their content.

This is a video from us, about the importance of keywords in viewing your content ( Indonesian Version)

Here is an explanation of the three types of keywords:

1. Short-Tail Keywords

Short-Tail Keywords are short keywords consisting of one or two words. They are commonly used because they are easy to apply. Examples: “Shoes,” “Chair,” “Knife.”

1. Required Article Length.

Short-Tail Keywords require an article length of between 2000 to 5000 words to compete on the main page of search engines. This type of keyword is more suitable for in-depth and comprehensive content.

2. Expertise of the Writer.

Typically, those with high reputations or experts in their fields succeed with short-tail keywords. For instance, the keyword “Health” is more likely to be dominated by an article from a doctor compared to an article written by a non-expert, even if the article lengths differ.

3. Website or Channel Credibility : Articles written by experts on trusted sites or channels, such as official government sites or prominent news websites, have a higher chance of ranking at the top compared to personal blogs or channels.

2. LSI Keywords (Latent Semantic Indexing)

LSI Keywords are contextually related keywords and more detailed than Short-Tail Keywords. Examples: “Running Shoes,” “School Shoes,” “Work Shoes.”

1. Required Article Length

Articles using LSI Keywords need to be between 1000 to 3000 words to compete. Many competitors write articles that are around 1500 to 3000 words long.

2. Credible References

To compete with LSI Keywords, you must use highly credible references such as government websites, research journals, or reputable news sites. At least 7 to 10 references are needed to support your article.

3. Theme Consistency and Engagement Time

Consistency in theme and engagement time on your site or channel significantly affects the ranking of articles with LSI Keywords. Sites that consistently cover certain topics will be more valued by search engines.

3. Long-Tail Keywords

Long-Tail Keywords are more specific and have lower competition. These keywords consist of three or more words. Example: "cheap women's sports shoes."

1. Required Article Length

Short articles, between 400 to 700 words, often succeed on the first page of Google searches. You need to directly answer the question in your article without being verbose.

2. High Literacy or Knowledge

Aligning titles with Long-Tail Keywords requires high literacy or knowledge. For instance, the keyword “cheap women's sports shoes” demands price information. If your website is not a marketplace, this can be challenging.

3. Potential Boomerang Effect

Incorrect use of Long-Tail Keywords can backfire on your content. For example, if your article explains the definition of cheap but readers are looking for actual prices, they will feel misled.

This is the application of these three keywords to your site or channel.

1. Short-Tail Keywords.

I suggest using this short-tail keyword in the title of your site or channel, for example the word Health. You can make your channel title something like 'Healthy Living with Sports'.

Here there are two short-tail keywords, namely "Healthy" and "Sport".

2. LSI - Keywords

This can be applied to your menu or site tag or Channel playlist.

For example, menus or playlists: Light Sports, Heavy Sports, etc

3. Long-Tail Keywords

Use these keywords to fill your content. If you are not a health expert and also not a sportsman. Try not to make your content look like a health expert or an athlete. Try filling your content from another perspective, for example from an office worker or something else.

Try to fill your content around things related to time management, financial management and others that don't require the expertise of a doctor or athlete. For example, creating content with the title: "Light exercise time management for office workers" or "Include a light exercise menu on your day off: Tips for office workers."

Because of what… ?. Because determining an exercise schedule for your health does not require special skills, everyone can do this.

Conclusion

Each type of keyword has its own strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, choosing the right keywords is crucial for the success of your article in the eyes of search engines.
